Privacy Policy

A plain-language explanation of what information Crete Community collects and how it is used.

Overview

Crete Community is designed to stay lightweight

The site does not ask residents to create accounts just to browse or post. Even so, certain information still has to be collected so listings, inquiries, safety checks, and emails can work.

If you submit a listing, inquiry, RSVP, application, or contact form, you are sharing the information needed to complete that action.

Information Collected

What may be collected when you use the site

The exact information depends on what you do.

For listings, that can include things like your name, email address, optional phone number, listing details, uploaded images, and category- specific information such as pricing, vehicle details, housing details, event details, or employment details.

For contact and response flows, that can include your name, email address, optional phone number, message content, uploaded resume files when applying for jobs, and the listing or event you interacted with.

Technical systems may also process information such as IP address, browser information, request timing, and security verification results in order to operate the site and reduce abuse.

Why It Is Used

How that information is used

Crete Community uses submitted information to run the features people explicitly choose to use.

That includes publishing listings, sending listing-management emails, delivering inquiries to the right recipient, handling job applications, processing RSVPs, reducing spam or fraud, storing listing media, and keeping the site stable and operational.

Abuse Prevention

Security checks and rate limiting

To keep anonymous posting practical, the site uses a few behind-the-scenes safeguards.

Depending on the form, that can include challenge verification, hidden honeypot fields, minimum-time checks, and request rate limits. These protections exist to reduce spam, flooding, and abusive submissions.

Third-Party Services

Services used to operate the platform

Crete Community relies on third-party providers for hosting, storage, email delivery, and security.

Relevant providers currently include Neon, Resend, Cloudflare Turnstile, Cloudflare R2, and Vercel.

These providers may process information as needed to deliver their services. For example, Neon stores application data, Resend sends transactional emails, Cloudflare services support security checks and storage, and Vercel hosts the application.

Food Ordering

Ordering happens on OmNom

Crete Community only acts as a directory and handoff surface for food ordering.

When you click through to order from a participating restaurant, you leave Crete Community and continue on OmNom. Orders are not processed inside this site, and OmNom’s own systems and policies apply to that part of the experience.

Retention And Contact

Questions, updates, and listing changes

Listings and related submissions may be kept for operational, moderation, and record-keeping reasons.

If you posted a listing, the normal first step is to use your emailed manage link to update or deactivate it. If you need help beyond that, email community@cretenebraska.com.
